I took this shot at the 18th FINA Visa Diving World Cup, which also served as a qualifying event for the 2012 London Olympics, in London at the new Olympic Aquatic Centre. I watched the women’s synchronised 3m springboard competition and was amazed at the precision needed to score high points. All of the female duos from 15 different countries were captivating as they completed complicated twists and spins in unison. One of the most fascinating elements to watch was how they entered the water. This photo really shows the control the divers had to have as they straightened their bodies and split the water. I found it incredible that they could work through a sequence of moves in the air together and still finish with this amount of accuracy.

In the end, China took first place, followed by Canada in second, and Italy in third.
